Job description

IMPAG is an international distributor of specialty chemicals and raw materials, with headquarters in Switzerland and subsidiaries in Germany, France, Austria, Spain and Poland.

To strengthen our in-house M&A capabilities, we are looking for an M&A / Integration Associate to support our CFO across the full deal lifecycle: from opportunity assessment and transaction execution to post-merger integration.

Working closely with the CFO, you will contribute to analysing acquisition opportunities, coordinating transaction processes, supporting integration initiatives across the Group, and ensuring that projects progress efficiently and with high quality. This role offers direct exposure to strategic transactions, close collaboration with senior management, and the opportunity to build broad corporate M&A expertise in an international environment.

This is a deliberately hands-on execution role with a strong focus on analysis, transaction execution and project coordination rather than pure deal origination or leadership responsibilities. It is an excellent opportunity for someone from a Big 4, project management, audit, transaction services or valuation background who wants to move into corporate M&A - with real deal exposure, direct access to senior decision-making and sustainable working hours.

Job requirements

Work @ IMPAG

  • You build, maintain, and challenge financial models (3-statement models, valuation analyses, synergy and scenario calculations).

  • You prepare and structure M&A processes end-to-end by structuring timelines, managing workstreams, coordinating data requests, tracking Q&A processes, and ensuring complete and well-organized transaction documentation.

  • You analyse target companies by reviewing financial statements, quality of earnings, working capital, and net debt positions to support investment decisions.

  • You support valuation work (LBO, trading and transaction multiples) and prepare decision materials for the Executive Board.

  • You draft transaction documentation, including indicative offers (IOIs), letters of intent (LOIs), and term sheet inputs, in preparation for CFO review.

  • You coordinate due diligence processes by collaborating with advisors, organising findings and maintaining issue lists.

  • You support post-merger integration initiatives across functions, systems, and organisational structures, including integration planning, synergy tracking, KPI monitoring, and value creation measures.

  • You coordinate cross-functional and international projects related to acquisitions, corporate development, business transformation, and growth initiatives in close collaboration with local management teams and Group functions.

  • You prepare professional management and board presentations on transactions.

Competences @ IMPAG

  • You have 2-4 years of professional experience in transaction services, valuation, financial due diligence (e.g. Big 4), corporate finance, or a comparable analytical role. Previous M&A transaction experience is an advantage but not a requirement.

  • You combine commercial curiosity with strong project management skills and collaborate effectively with stakeholders across functions, countries on M&A and integration initiatives.

  • You have an excellent understanding of the three financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow) and how they interlink (essential).

  • You possess a strong accounting knowledge in local accounting standards (e.g. OR) as well as fair value reporting standards such as Swiss GAAP FER or IFRS.

  • You have a sound understanding of valuation principles (LBO, DCF, multiples, net debt bridges).

  • You are highly proficient in Excel and financial modelling and prepare professional presentations using PowerPoint.

  • You work in a structured, precise, and reliable manner and take pride in delivering high-quality, well-organised work.

  • You understand the structure of an M&A process, including its phases, documentation, and key stakeholders.

  • You are fluent in German and English.

Benefits @ IMPAG

  • We offer you genuine M&A exposure within an international corporate environment - without investment banking working hours.

  • You will work closely with an experienced CFO and benefit from direct mentoring as well as a steep learning curve through real transactions.

  • You will take ownership of a clearly defined role with meaningful responsibility for transaction quality, financial analysis, and project coordination.

  • You will work primarily from our Zurich headquarters within a modern office environment and benefit from a limited hybrid working model.

  • You will become part of an international organisation with short decision-making paths and an entrepreneurial culture.

Culture @ IMPAG

  • We have been successful for more than 100 years and aim to achieve great things together.

  • We are courageous, responsible, reliable, and entrepreneurial in our thinking.

  • We work together and celebrate our successes as a team! - IMPAG – together unique!
